Ulrika's clan 2 Years, 1 Month ago
II was borin England and have lived in NT Australia since Jan 64. I would be interested to have contact with anyone else from this clan, as it is a much smaller group than for most British peophttp://www.oxfordancestors.com/components/com_fireboard/template/default/images/english/emoticons/cool.pngle it appears, who belong to one of the 7 daughters.

Hello fellow descendant of Ulrike. What would you like to know about our clan?

From your posting, you said you were born in England. Ulrike's descendants in the British Isles are the genetic reminders of invasions of the Dark Ages, (either of the Anglo Saxons or the Vikings--it depends on the exact sequences that someone has.)

In my case, I have the mutations 179T and 356C. This puts me with the Anglo-Saxons, as my sequence has been found in Germany, the UK, the Alps, and the Balkans. That last might be a little strange, but I have since found out that Saxons were the elite mercantile class throughout the Balkans and in Romania in particular.

Other sequences of U4 DNA are more associated with the Vikings, as U4 in general is more often found in areas settled by the Vikings--even down into Iraq and India.

Does that answer your question?

Hello there....I am new to this, although had DNA sequence done back in 06.
I was born in New Zealand but my mothers, mothers family came out from Britain.
I am also a descendant of Ulrika's clan, in 06 covering letter said it is unusual and not among the clans grouped as "The Seven Daughters of Eve".

Hello Ulrike Clan: I was born in Australia, lived in the US and am now in Australia again. Looking for anyone related to a Fanny Power from Dublin, Ireland. Her daughter, Elizabeth Augusta Cotter came to Australia about 1852 from an orphanage in Dublin. Fanny's husband was a schoolteacher named Patrick Cotter. Would love to find out more information.

Hello,
I was born in Kentucky (Greenup County), USA as was my female line back to the late 1600's. Actually almost every branch on both sides was here by that time and migrated from Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. I have always suspected some of my ancestors were here to "meet the boats". With the new research about the vikings and turks mixing with native people along the eastern coast hundreds of years ahead of the first English settlement, many questions may be answered. Maybe you have you heard of the Melungeon people. My MtDNA is straight U4 and helps to explain my connection to them and disputes the family stories that we are all Welsh. After investigation I have found only one person that might actually be from Wales, on a ship with captain Thomas Savage, a direct ancestor on my father's side. Both sides of my family were represented in the same counties and parishes during the same time periods and migrated as allied families. We are mostly dark, with curly dark hair, brown eyes and the same genetic medical conditions as many Native Americans. Red hair and green eyes is the second most common look. Those vikings really got around!
