Imagine this scene from the deep
past. A woman picks her way along a stony beach or wades through
a shallow, sparkling river. The sun is bright and a pebble, polished
by the action of water, catches her eye. A stone which is more
colourful, more brilliant than the rest. She stoops to pick it
up, turning the smooth stone round and round in her palm, absorbing
the subtleties of texture and colour as the sunlight reflects
the crystal structures deep within. Back at camp she threads
the subtle stone onto a cord and places it around her slender
neck.
We still share the same fascination for crystals
as our ancestors. We are all captivated by their beauty and fascinated
by their durability over millions of years - and many of us feel
their special energies and healing powers. The Oxford Ancestors
MotherStone collection celebrates this link with our ancestors – the
very same connection that is traced through DNA. Each of our specially
commissioned collection of gemstone pendants is linked to the homeland
of your clan mother. She knew these stones. They were with her
on the beaches and in the streams. She was that woman.
Each MotherStone
is carefully selected for us from the highest quality ‘roughs’ then
hand polished and set in a 925/1000 sterling silver pendant mount.
Each one is accompanied by a 16
inch silver link chain and a bespoke satin-lined velvet presentation
box along with a description of the stone and its properties. As
well as being a tangible link to your own clan mother, gemstones
from the MotherStone collection also make compelling and original
gifts. Now that you know your own clan mother through genetic analysis
of your mDNA (mitochondrial DNA), those relatives connected to
you by an unbroken matrilineal link will also share the same mDNA.
They too are descended from the same clan mother – and they
too are entitled to wear the same MotherStone without the need
for further DNA tests.
