What is it?

We can provide duplicates of your MatriLine™ certificates. In addition, if you wish to surprise another member of your family who is descended from the same ancestral clan mother (see our Family Four MatriLine™ service for more details), then we can offer replicates of your MatriLine™ results certificate, made out in their name.

How does it work?

The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) that we all carry in our cells is inherited exclusively from our mothers. Our mothers inherited it from their mothers, who inherited it from their mothers, and so on back through time. Obviously, this means that your ancestral clan mother will be the same as your mother’s. Indeed, once you have identified your own clan mother, you will be able to deduce the clan of many of your relatives.

How long does it take?

Additional copies of your certificate(s) are usually despatched within 7 days of receipt of your order.
