Bryan Sykes Chairman & Founder

Bryan is the Founder of
Oxford Ancestors and is a Professor of Human Genetics at the
University of Oxford.
His work in the field of
mitochondrial DNA analysis
allowed him and his co-workers to produce the most complete DNA family
tree of our species yet constructed; the basis of our MatriLine™ service.
Using his own surname, Bryan was the first to show the astonishingly
close connection between surnames and Y-chromosomes, which
became the basis for
our Y-Line™ service.
Bryan lives in Oxford and on the Isle of Skye.

Julie joined Oxford Ancestors in
September 2001, having worked as Professor Sykes' PA for
two years. Julie was born in Oxford and has lived there all
her life. She is married with two children and when not at
work enjoys spending time with her family. |

Candida
joined Oxford Ancestors in September 2001. Born in Wimbledon,
Candida was raised in Oxford with
her sister and three brothers. She now lives with her son Felix
in a small Oxfordshire village not too far from the office.

Hilary
was born and raised in Middlesex and moved to Oxfordshire
in 1979. Her home is now in Kidlington, allowing her to cycle
to
work in all weathers! She joined Oxford Ancestors in April
2002.

Jane
is the most recent recruit to Oxford Ancestors having joined
the team
in January 2003. She has was born and raised in Oxford
and is married with a son and two daughters. In 2002, Jane became
the proud grandmother of Elliott.

Colin
was born in the Scottish Borders in 1975 and has spent all
his life there. He
holds a First Class Degree in Biochemistry and
is married to Sandra (descendant of Helena). Colin joined Oxford
Ancestors at the same time as David and spends his time (whilst
at work) overseeing the movement of your samples through the
various processes required to produce your results.

Paul
was born in Worcestershire, educated in Devon, worked in London
and France, founded his own design
company in Oxfordshire and now
lives "up
North" in Sheffield. As you can see from his photograph, he
had a keen interest in fashion and construction from an early age,
and was obviously destined to carve out a career in his chosen
field - design.

Shona was born in Edinburgh and graduated in
design from the Edinburgh College of Art. After setting up her
own design company in 1985 she first started working with Oxford Ancestors in
April 2001. Shona designed the sampling kits that we send out
to our customers, and all our results certificates and maps.
She lives and works near Edinburgh, is married to a Doctor
and they have a daughter, Elspeth.
